A boom in private sector support for family caregivers

Back in 2018, when Jonathan Davis started the family caregiver training platform Trualta, the concept of teaching and supporting family caregivers was still a new category.

“Then, there was very [little] family caregiver support that was happening out there,” said Davis, who is CEO of the firm. “A lot of it would be happening in a not for-profit context. Call one of the wonderful organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association, right? That’s where you’d get sent for training … And a lot of the things they were doing, a lot of it was in-person.”

Flash forward to 2025. Trualta, which offers everything from training to accreditation to support groups, powers 90 caregiver portals and serves family caregivers in 33 states.
